This is Lacey the black speckled one. She is 8 months old. She is a hybrid like most of ours but a cross originally from a Rhode Island Red and a Maran.
It’s rare for her to lay in the nest box. She seems to like to lay in peace and away from the rest of the flock. So she will fly out and find her own spot. This makes it difficult tracking down where the latest nest is. I can’t clip her wings because their perch is quite high up. We had a lower one but none of them would use it.
She is lovely and you can guarantee she’ll run up to you to have a chatter and then wonder off again.
